Principles of Consent: Reflective of Capacity

Principles of Consent: Reflective of Capacity

For someone to genuinely consent, they need to be able to make clear and informed decisions. Capacity means being able to fully understand and communicate your choices. Alcohol, drugs, age, exhaustion or emotional distress can all compromise this ability. And someone who's asleep or unconscious absolutely cannot consent.

If there's any question about someone's capacity to consent, the answer is simple: not now.
