The body can remember before the brain does.

The body can remember before the brain does.

Sometimes, the body remembers before the brain does.

In a traumatising moment, the part of the brain responsible for logic can log off, which leaves us with feelings, sensations or fragments we can’t fully explain.

That’s why someone might only realise years later that what happened to them wasn’t okay, and why those memories can feel so confusing to untangle.

There’s no “right” timeline for recognising harm, and no deadline for validating your experience.
